The newly elected board will be sworn in by Councilman Herb Wesson Jr. and the board will elect new officers. Just a reminder for those thinking about or waiting to file their candidate forms.  The last day to add your name as a candidate for the OPNC Board Elections is April 13, 2010.  It will be as a write-in candidate.  Also, just to let you know, if you do write a candidate statement, it is limited to 150 words.  However you can have that translated into as many languages as you like. Each translation does NOT affect your 150 word count.  This is good news for those of you who are able to get your statements translated into other languages.  Here is the packet for filing as a Write-In Candidate OPNC candidate-filing-packet.  Should you have any questions about the elections, please refer to the Elections Page of this blog, the City Clerk’s Website  or email us here and we will do our best to answer your questions.

Come join Olympic Park Neighborhood Council at the Wellington Square Farmer’s Market on Sunday April, 2010.  We will be there with Candidate Statements for those stakeholders running in the upcoming elections on May 13, 2010.  So if you are running for a seat on the OPNC board and you wish to have your statement read by potential voters, please send them to jvizza@theopnc.org.  This is a great opportunity to support a local farmers market, meet some neighbors, get to know the candidates and learn about your neighborhood council.  We look forward to seeing you there on Sunday April 25, 2010! Wellington Square farmers market, 4394 W. The monthly Olympic Park Neighborhood Board of Directors’ meeting will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010 – 6:30 PM (NOTE EARLIER START TIME) at the LAPD West Bureau Community Room – 4849 West Venice Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90019. This meeting will be a DONE coordinated NC RETREAT with training sessions in Planning and Goal Setting, Funding, Board Member Roles and Responsibilities and Outreach. We will also have a RE-VOTE on stakeholders Kelly McConnell and Peter Schulberg’s applications to fill the open EAST REP board seat. STAKEHOLDERS will participate in re-vote and are ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE in the RETREAT and learn about the NC system in advance of the upcoming board ELECTIONS (Candidate Filing Packet). The Committee will cover topics including election OUTREACH, CANDIDATE FILING and ELECTION PROCEDURES. All are invited to attend.
